Downton Abbey: A New Era is an upcoming historical drama film and the sequel to the 2019 film Downton Abbey. Both films were written by Julian Fellowes, the creator and writer of the television receiver series of the same name, with the sequel picture beingness directed past Simon Curtis, replacing Michael Engler who directed the starting time moving-picture show. The picture show is scheduled to be released on 29 April 2022 in the UK past Universal Pictures, and on twenty May 2022 in the US and Canada by Focus Features.[1]

Production [edit]

After the release of the first moving-picture show in 2019, creator Julian Fellowes and the cast stated that they already had ideas well-nigh doing a sequel.[11] In January 2020, information technology was reported that Fellowes would begin working on information technology after he finished scripting drama serial The Gilded Historic period.[12] In September 2020, Jim Carter, who plays Carson, said that the script for the sequel had been written,[13] and in February 2021, Hugh Bonneville, who plays Robert, stated in an interview with BBC Radio 2 that once the bandage and crew had been vaccinated for COVID-19, the film would be made.[14]

Downton Abbey: A New Era was initially set to be released in cinemas on 22 December 2021,[19] [20] before later having its release date moved to 18 March 2022,[21] and later to 29 Apr in the UK, and twenty May in North America.[1] It is expected to be streamable in the U.s. on Peacock on iv July, 45 days after its American theatrical release.[22]
